Beach Club Pine Cliffs by Olivier

Continuing with our publications about Sheraton Algarve & Pine Cliffs Resort, this time we went on a beautiful path to the Falésia beach, between rocks and plants where the erosion created particularly beautiful scenarios. This path ends right above the sea, at the restaurant. Explored by the Hotel, this restaurant was created in partnership with Olivier Costa, whom gives the name and ideas to the space alongside with Osvalde Silva, similar with what happens at the Japanese restaurant of the resort, Yakuza.

The space is a typical beach bar, with white dominating the decoration and comfort above the average of a usual terrace at the beach. The menu promotes light meals as well as a nice selection of dishes with the best fish and shellfish from our coast.

We started our meal with the hotel’s bread selection (good quality), tapenade, herb butter and Saucisson. As appetizer a Gin and Tonic, or a sort of it, given the actual fever about Gin’s and the quality of brands they have, the serving was far below the requirements nowadays.

 Crab guacamole, nachos

A fantastic start, where crab meat was added to the traditional guacamole and also spices with a light curry flavor. Perfect for the climate and the view, totally addictive. One of the best we tasted during our stay.

 “À Bulhão Pato” Clams

Once again the amazing clams of Algarve, this time a few points below from the ones we had the night before at O Pescador, because they were a bit overcooked. Well accompanied with some thin and crunchy toasts.

Traditional black rice, shrimp and cuttlefish

As main course we chose a rice to share. Cooked like a paella, the rice had great flavor and texture, with the cuttlefish nicely integrated and cooked on spot. An excellent dish for a lunch at the beach.

Traditonal sweets from Algarve

Once again the desserts were the weakest point of the meal, with a nice orange pie, a tasty but too liquid D.Rodrigo, our known carob tart and an almond cookie.

The wine list as few but good options and the prices follow the line of a luxury hotel, therefore, high. We chose to accompany the meal with a Alvarinho Soalheiro 2013, served at incorrect temperature, but the problem sorted itself out with time and the Frapê.

The service is nice and funny, but different between the several employees in terms of professionalism and know-how.

Final Remarks
The Beach Club Pine Cliffs by Olivier, is more than just a bar or a beach restaurant inserted in a luxury resort, the requirements are much superior, such as the offer, making it one of the most exclusive spaces in one of the most beautiful beaches of Algarve, Falésia beach. The prices are not, and don’t intend to be, the most appealing, assuring the differentiation of the space. It also has some aspects to improve like the beverage service or the desserts, still being one of the most interesting spaces to visit for those who stay at the hotel or those attending the beach. Whether for a meal or just a relaxing drink over the ocean, never missing the crab guacamole!
